Jonna Koenitzer, LMFT

THERAPIST

Jonna (pronounced: yo-nah, pronouns: she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and dual citizen of Finland and the United States. Her approach to therapy is warm, curious, holistic, and transparent.  She uses multiple modalities depending on the client’s needs and incorporates the Finnish mindset to therapy.  While she allows space to process the past, she brings focus to taking control of today.

Jonna earned her Master’s degree from Adler University in 2008, where she was trained in Family Systems Therapy.  After graduating, she spent over a decade in the school systems teaching early education, art, SEL, and as a counselor. This has given her a strong understanding of the student, parent, and teacher experience.

The Finnish culture has taught her to embrace using direct communication, slowing down, and valuing each season for what it provides us.  She encourages clients to develop their own “Sisu,” a traditional word for grit, resilience, and overcoming challenges with purpose.  With this in mind, she encourages the exploration of the client’s culture, community, and family history as well.

Jonna works with adults, youth, and couples. She has experience working with ADHD, anxiety, Adult ASD, female health issues, LGBTQ+ couples, and multicultural relationships. She is skilled in providing Executive Functioning support and accountability. Jonna speaks English, Finnish, and is proficient in Spanish.
