FOUNDER, THERAPIST & SUPERVISOR

Nosheen (pronouns: She/Her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, and the founder of Nosh Family Therapy. A Muslim American immigrant from South Asia, Nosheen’s multiethnic experience naturally lends itself to a diverse perspective. She has been fortunate enough to live in a variety of lands and cultures—such as Saudi Arabia, India, and the U.K.—and is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu. Her last decade of work crosses a multitude of mental health settings throughout the city of Chicago, including public health clinics, hospitals, correctional facilities and community mental health agencies, and is rooted in treating trauma and managing crises due to violence and poverty caused by systemic racism. Nosheen specializes in working with individuals and couples around issues of identity, differentiation, attachment, trauma, self-esteem, depression and anxiety. Whether working with interfaith or biracial individuals or couples, she acknowledges the complexity—and beauty—of clients with multicultural backgrounds and approaches therapy as a way to fuel the mind, body and spirit— nourishment for the soul.

She was selected as a “Champion of Change” by President Obama and the Obama White House and worked in collaboration with the Obama White House and Obama Foundation and other local community organizations on efforts to prevent gun violence in the city of Chicago. She has participated in a multitude of local programs and led discussions on reducing violence in the inner city, offering a holistic perspective to community mental health and wellness.

Nosheen founded Nosh Family Therapy with the mission to bring together a team of therapists who aim to serve the field of mental health utilizing their unique identities as tools to join with clients from all backgrounds and walks of life, from a culturally competent, trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, anti-racist, anti-capitalist perspective. She has a Master of Science degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Northwestern University.
